For children Aged 4 to 7, Pat’s 20+ years as an educator make her uniquely qualified for presenting to children. She reads with great expression and keeps the children engaged throughout the story hour.
Pat enjoys sharing the writing process with older children in grades 2 through 5. A photo slide show guides kids through the making of The Stitches Fairy and includes information on word choice, editing, and revision. Students learn about the illustrator and view original artwork. Pat stresses the importance of her writing critique group, PBJ, the Picture Book Junkies.
Pat wrote a “reader’s theater” version of the story. It is written at a 2nd grade level. The trunk show includes fun props and scripts of The Stitches Fairy. Kids love reading and acting out the roles of Claire, Dad, and the fairy.
